John F. Hunter

John F. Hunter, age 79 of Wayne Township, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 8, 2025 while on his way home from a yearly photography show. He was born in Connersville, Indiana on August 10, 1945, the son of Jesse and Edith (Ward) Hunter. John was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was with the United States Army from 1966 to 1970 then went on to Army Reserves from 1982 to 1989. On August 3, 1974, in Hamilton he married “The Love of His Life”, Cathy Smith. He was a faithful member of New Life Vineyard Church and was active in many outreaches, two mission trips to Guatemala and a mission trip to South Dakota. John loved God first, his family then his church and photography. He was active for 17 years as the senior commander of Royal Rangers.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cathy Hunter of Hamilton; two children, Rebecca (Paul) Holt of England and Jeffrey F. Hunter of Hamilton; his grandsons, Roman (Brianna) Lozano and Jon Keller; his great-granddaughters, Gabrielle, Mira, Hannah, and Josie and their parents, Dat and Danielle La; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his infant sister, Janice Hunter.

Celebration of Life will be held at New Life Vineyard Church, 1701 Princeton Road, on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 2:00 PM with military honors to commence at 3:30 PM. Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
