Jonathan "Big John" Davenport

Jonathan Davenport – affectionately known as "Big John" – (age 62) of Hamilton, Ohio went home to be with our Lord on Friday, November 18, 2016. He was born April 19, 1954 in Hamilton, Ohio to Kenneth Woodson Davenport and the late Florene (Corey) Davenport, both originally of Knox County, Kentucky.

Big John loved being outdoors. He loved camping and fishing. He especially loved taking his grandsons fishing with him. He enjoyed boating and thought the West would be a wonderful place to live. He also thoroughly enjoyed riding motorcycles – particularly in the fall season. Playing cards was a favorite pastime for Big John. Anyone that knew him knows that he loved to eat – especially banana pudding.

John was an avid gardener! He also grew the most beautiful flowers and took great pride in his lawn and landscaping. He was a man that worked with his hands and could build or fix almost anything. He worked hard!

Big John had a big personality. He was a "people person" and made friends easily. While he may not have accumulated great worldly wealth, his true treasure was his love for family and friends.

John is survived by his two daughters, Teresa (Tim) Hopkins of Frederick, Maryland, and Jessica (Dan) Kotur of Redding, California; four grandsons, Jacob, Joel and Jared Hopkins and Jordan Kotur; his father Kenneth (Charlene) Davenport of Hamilton, Ohio; two brothers, David Davenport of Greer, South Carolina and Caleb (Susan) Davenport of Wooster, Ohio; one sister, Naomi (Tim) Ledford of Hamilton, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Florene Davenport and his nephew, Matthew Davenport.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio, 45013. The funeral will immediately follow at 12:00 noon with Rev. Tim Ledford, brother-in-law, officiating. Burial to follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
