Joni Mae Ash

Joni Mae Ash, age 87 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Tuesday, November 24, 2009. She was born in Clay County, Kentucky on August 29, 1922 the daughter of Theodore and Chloe (Hoskins) Woodrum. Joni was a very caring and giving person, always looking out for everyone else. She was someone who never met a stranger. For 30 years, on the first Tuesday of every month she baked a cake for the residents at Butler County Care Facility. Joni was a member of the East Hamilton Baptist Church for approximately 30 years. On March 1, 1971 in Jellico, Tennessee, she married Merle Ash, and he preceded her in death in 1997.

She is survived by a son, Leroy Warren of Sterling Heights, Michigan; two daughters, Rosetta Warren of Sterling Heights, Michigan and Lavada (Gary) Elliott of Azle, Texas; two siblings, Theodore Combs and Loretta McFadden, both of Kentucky; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kathy Wells; a son, Charles Hubbard; a grandson; a brother; and a sister.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Monday, November 30, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dale Hinderliter, Pastor of East Hamilton Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
