Joseph Raymond Egelston Jr. left this world to be reunited with his first-born son, Joey, as he reached heaven on Thursday morning, February 22, 2024. He was 69 years old. Born in Hamilton, Ohio on April 10, 1954, to Patricia (Combs) Egelston and Joseph Egelston Sr. He had 2 sisters, Marcia, and Debbie. Joe attended Filmore, Garfield, and Taft High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force where he served for 4 years. He ended his tour in Taiwan guarding our fallen soldiers and out flying feet. On May 20, 1975, he married his lifelong love, Sue. Together, Joe and Sue brought 5 kids into this world, Joey, Jenny, Jodi, Jamie, and Jeremy. He worked at Fisher Body for 11 years, and Steel Summit of Ohio for 30 years. Meeting and making such good buddies for the rest of his life. Joe loved life and his children so much. Coaching and watching them play sports was one of his favorite things to do. But becoming a “PawPaw” was one of the most special things his children blessed him with. He had two granddaughters, Joey, and Lily. They held the sparkle in his eyes. The grandsons, well, he loved talking and teaching them little things about sports. Coaching was his passion, a way of life. A way he helped many young men along the way. He made sure they knew not only how to hit a baseball hard, and how to “keep their elbow in on a jump shot, but to also have good sportsmanship. Jaxon, Jonny, and Mason loved to play with him. Jonny could talk to him for hours about trains and boats, Jax and Mason for hours on end about sports and playing on his laptop. He also gained a new daughter when Jeremy married Amber. Never an “in-law”, just always” in” our hearts. He would always tell her to “keep them boys in line.” Pets were always around, but this one cat, Bob, had his heart. She was his partner in crime. She loved his scratches and a warm place to cuddle up with him. Rest easy, Joe. Your smile and touch will be missed forever. Forever and always.
Pallbearers:
