Joseph Sandlin, age 71 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 9:30 AM. He was born in Perry County, Kentucky on November 11, 1939 the son of Floyd and Sarah (Baker) Sandlin. Joseph was a veteran in the Viet Nam Era of the U.S. Army and was employed in construction for Laborers Local 534. He was a member of Fellowship Christian Center. On July 3, 1965 in Jellico, Tennessee he married Delores F. Clemmons.
He is survived by his wife, Delores F. Sandlin of Hamilton; two sons, Steve Sandlin of Nashville, Tennessee and Michael Floyd Sandlin of Hamilton; a brother, Zach (Julie) Sandlin of Augusta, Georgia; four sisters, Mabel Doss of Savannah, Georgia, Eva (Jesse) Rendon of Gobles, Michigan, Faye McIntosh and Kathleen "Bo" Knisley, both of Buckhorn, Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews, including special nephews Rob Knisley and Joe Rendon. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Omar Sandlin and Floyd "Judge" Sandlin; and a sister, Virginia Adams.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Paul Marcum of Fellowship Christian Center officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
