Joy Maggard, age 71 of Hamilton passed away at her residence on Saturday, September 6, 2008. She was born in Hamilton on August 14, 1937 the daughter of James and Nannie (Lewis) Maggard. Joy was employed as a nursing assistant for various nursing homes in the Hamilton area, retiring in 1989.
She is survived by five children, Clarence "Gene" (Vickie) Howard of Hamilton, Nannie (Charles) Hensley of East Bernstadt, Kentucky, Joseph Howard of West Carrollton, Lela (Homer) Smith of Middletown, and Anna Howard of Hamilton; one sister, Alice Roy of Hamilton; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Leet; two sons, Louis Howard and Bennie Dale Howard; and a grandson, Tony Lay.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Darrtown Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
