Joyce Jean Mays

Joyce Jean Mays, age 72 of Somerville, passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021. Joyce was born in Hyden, Kentucky on October 15, 1948 to the late P. G. and Ruby (Wagers) Thompson.  Joyce was a graduate of Fairfield High School, Class of 1967. After high school, she went on to study cosmetology at Richard Weston Beauty School and Moore University of Hair Design, earning her beautician’s license. On October 4, 1969, she married the love of her life, Gary Mays in Fairfield Township. In addition to being a beautician, she also earned her Real Estate license. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, but above all else, she loved spending time with her family.

Joyce will be dearly missed by her son, Gary (Jennifer) Mays, II; her granddaughter, Ashley (Eric Henson) Mays; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Mays and her sister, Barbara (Harry) Able.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July  9, 2021 from 11:00 AM until the time of her Funeral Service at 1:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave, Hamilton, Ohio, with Dr. Keith Gebhart officiating. Burial will follow at Somerville Cemetery.
