Joyce Ann Southard Thomas

Joyce Ann Southard Thomas, age 63 of Sorrento, FL passed away at Florida Regional Hospital in Orlando, FL on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 4:25AM. She was born in Hamilton on September 18, 1950 to William and Bertha (Roberts) Southard. She attended Hamilton City Schools and graduated from Garfield Sr. High in 1968. Growing up in Hamilton she loved the Lord and served Him with all her heart. She was always strong in her faith and was an active member of her church. On September 7, 1992, she married John (Jack) Thomas and they resided in Sorrento, FL. Joyce was employed at Fiskar Industries for many years, retiring in 2008. She was a member of Umatilla Church of God in Umatilla, FL where she enjoyed sharing her talent of playing the piano. Joyce had a special laugh and enjoyed her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all she touched.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Thomas, of Sorrento, FL; stepson James; two stepdaughters Kimberly and Tammy; one brother William (Joan) Southard; one sister Linda (Jerry) Gentry both from Hamilton; nieces and nephews Angela Ball, Lori Wegman, Melissa Pate, Brandon Southard (who shared her birthday), and Holly Gadd; and nine great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 1PM with Pastor Alan Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 12noon - 1PM at the funeral home. The family would like to thank her Florida family; Sue, Todd, George, Zora, Mike and Tammy for caring for her during this difficult time.
