Joycelyn Burkart, age 85 of Hamilton passed away in her residence on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at 4:29 PM. She was born in Hamilton on April 30, 1922 the daughter of Charles and Bertha (Mahon) Wilson. She was a 1940 graduate of Hamilton High School, a member of the Amvets Post #71, the Lindenwald Ladies Club, St. Ann’s Catholic Church, and the Altar Rosary Society of the parish. She was employed as a deputy clerk for the Butler County Recorder’s Office for nineteen years, retiring in 1984. On June 14, 1941 in Hamilton she was married to Robert E. Burkart Sr., and he preceded her in death in 1992.
She is survived by two sons, James Burkart of Louisville, Kentucky and John (Joan) Burkart of Hamilton; two daughters, Susan Coffey and Joyce (Dick) Cepluch, both of Hamilton; one brother, Charles (Shirley) Wilson of St. Petersburg, Florida; a sister, Patricia Gbur of Akron, Ohio; and also nineteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Burkart Jr. in 1993; a granddaughter, Tamra Cepluch in 1973; and by three sisters, Catherine Purdy, Betty Casey, and Ruth Betti.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Stephen Mondiek, Celebrant. Entombment will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The family requests memorials to St. Vincent DePaul or St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
