Juanita Sandlin, age 85 of Hamilton, passed away at Golden Years Nursing Center on Thursday, January 31, 2013. She was born in Harveyton, Kentucky on January 22, 1928 to Arthur and Claudia (Ford) Shelton. On Feb 29, 1952 in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri she married Delbert Sandlin, and they were happily married for nearly 62 years. Juanita was an elementary teacher for Hamilton Schools for 35 years, retiring in 1986. She loved reading and sewing, and enjoyed traveling. Juanita was a member of Westwood Prebyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Delbert Sandlin; a daughter, Daphne (Tom) Britton; a son, Greg (Debbie) Sandlin; grandchildren, Brett and Blake Sandlin, and Joshua and Shawn (Tara) Britton; a great-granddaughter, Sydney Britton; and two brothers, O'Neil and Dorian Shelton. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gordon and Glenn Shelton; and a sister, Margie Stacy.
Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Norman Godfrey of Westwood Presbyterian officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Westwood Presbyterian Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
