J.V. Hickman Jr.

J.V. Hickman Jr., age 82 of Hamilton passed away at Mercy Hospital Fairfield on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 3:54 AM. He was born in Clarence, Louisiana on June 18, 1928 the son of John Virgil and Ophelia (Paige) Hickman. J.V. was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Era and was self-employed as an insurance salesman. He was a member of the 187th Airborn R.C.T. Association and DAV Chapter #15.

He is survived by a son, John Hickman of Independence, Kentucky; two daughters, Gail Hickman of Reading and Teresa Mitchell of Hamilton; four brothers, Nolan Hickman, Howard Hickman, both of Louisiana, Marlin (Marie) Hickman of Texas, and Travis Hickman; and five grandchildren, Devon, Camille, Jena, Paulina, and Lily, as well as one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Virgil Hickman and Ophelia Cheek.

A graveside funeral service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Wendell Coning of Hamilton Dream Center officiating.
