Kathleen J. Proffitt, age 81 of Hamilton, passed away surrounded by family and friends at Hospice of Hamilton on Thursday, August 10, 2023. Kathy was born in Michigan City, Indiana on December 13, 1941 to Theodore and Lillian (nee Tomaszewski) Jarka. During her life, she was devoted to her children, grandchildren and friends. Kathy was best known for her chocolate chip cookies, which led to her marriage on August 15, 1996 to Russell W. Proffitt.
Kathy is survived by her beloved husband of 27 years, Rusty Proffitt; her children, Mike (Valerie) Swanson, Jim Swanson, John (Lisa) Swanson, Lori (Paul) Saurber, Ron (Jeanette) Swanson, Carrie Proffitt-Boyle and Gregory Proffitt; her brother, Tom (Joyce) Jarka; her in-laws, Troy (Donna) Proffitt, Gracie Goebel and Roy Proffitt; her grandchildren, James Michael, Christine (Shawn), Joshua (Brittany), Kristyn (Luke), Fred, Devon, Cole, Sara, Katy (Nick), Jessica (Austin), Lilly, Paige (Kam), Chelsea (Jordan), Luke, Brandon, Leo and Arianna; and her 10 great-grandchildren with one on the way. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Jim (Pat) Jarka.
Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave, Hamilton, Ohio, on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 12:00 PM with Pastor Bill Haley of Bethel Community Church officiating. Burial will follow at Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Hamilton or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
