Kennie R. Holbrook, age 70 of Hamilton passed away at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 4:51 PM. He was born in Lawrence County, Ohio on February 24, 1937 the son of Russell and Opal Holbrook. Kennie was the owner and operator of Fairfield Auto Service (formerly A-1 Auto Service) since 1969 and was an avid racecar fan. He sponsored cars for Don and Donny Gregory and Bud and Gary St. Amant in the American Speed Association Racing Series. Kennie held various offices in Moose Lodge #36 and was a member of the Eagles Lodge #407 and Monkey Mutual Aid Society. On July 2, 1981 in Kentucky, he married Darlene Roark.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Holbrook of Hamilton; three children, Greg (Susan) Holbrook of Indianapolis, Russ (fiancée Lori Gilman) of Hamilton, and Julie (Allen Hillis) Holbrook of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Joshua Holbrook and Courtney Holbrook, both of Hamilton; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Russell Holbrook Jr., Carl Holbrook, and Johnnie Holbrook.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, July 23, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Barry Wilson of Hilltop Baptist Church officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM with a Moose Lodge service at 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Moose Lodge #36 Youth Fund.
