Kentucky Mae Sheffstall, age 80 of Hamilton, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Kentucky was born in Strunk, Kentucky on December 6, 1943 to Clarence Troxel and Myrtle (Tapley) Troxel, she was named Kentucky, by her Grandpa George Tapley. She graduated from McCreary County High School in 1962 in Stearns, KY. After graduation she moved to Cincinnati, OH to live with her Uncle Virgil and Aunt Rose Troxel. While employed at Monsanto she met the love of her life, Bill Sheffstall. They were married on October 28, 1967, at First Church of God in Hamilton, OH. Together they raised three children, Jimmy, Lorri, and Jason in New Miami, OH. Kentucky was a stay-at-home mom until 1984. She went to work at Champion International Paper until her disability. Mom loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports as well as the Reds on TV every night. She would not miss a game to holler and cheer for her kids. Mom was a devoted Christian woman, who made sure her kids were in church every Sunday and Wednesday.
Kentucky is survived by her children, Jimmy (Felicia) Sheffstall, Lorri (Doug Singleton) Sheffstall-Metcalf, and Jason (Kristie) Sheffstall; grandchildren, Crystal (Steven) Wiggins, Corben Sheffstall, Kayla (Josh) Tribbey, Christian Sheffstall, Josiah Sheffstall, Jaden Sheffstall, Jonathon Sheffstall, and Jocelyn Sheffstall; great-grandchildren, Owen, Isla, Nash, Willow, and Bodie; sister, Carlie Slaven; aunt, Rose Troxel; sisters-in-law, Madeline Vescio and Sherry Hawley; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends, Judy Anderson, Barb Martin, Ruth Singleton, and Glen (Arie) Collins. Kentucky was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Myrtle Troxel; husband of 31 years, Royce “Bill” Sheffstall; brothers, Wilt (Mittie) and Floyd (Elaine) Troxel; six infant brothers and sisters; son-in-law, Jim Metcalf; sisters-in-law, Nan (Marvin) Ledford, Darlene (Jack) Stewart, and Marlene (Vernon) Isaacs; and brother-in-law, Elb Sheffstall.
Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave., Hamilton, Ohio, on Monday, September 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jason Sheffstall officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home.
