Laura K. Wagers, also known lovingly as Kay, Katie, KayKay or Lola was born on January 8, 1956, and passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Hospice of Hamilton, at the age of 70.
Kay was a lifelong resident of Hamilton, Ohio, where she attended Hamilton Taft High School and built a life rooted in family and love. She married her Tommy on September 3, 1983. She was the beloved daughter of Jasper (Jay) and Arlene (Sue) Cornett. All who knew Kay knew her as a safe place—a woman who loved with her whole heart and never judged. Her compassion, warmth, and unwavering support made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to be part of her life.
She cherished time spent with her family, including her chosen family and her five grand-dogs, whom she adored. Kay also found joy in crafting and loved designing her home as a special place—often keeping everyone on their toes as furniture seemed to find a new place each day.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tommy; her son, Aaron; her brother, Les Cornett; and her mother and father in-law, Pauline and Eness Wagers. She is survived by her son, Joel (Laarni) Anders; her granddaughters, Kayla (Caleb) and Ysabella Anders; her brothers, Jeff (Mary), Greg, and Kelly Cornett; her sister, Lorri Gabbard; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will be honoring Kay with a Celebration of Life at a later time. This gathering will be shared personally with friends and loved ones once plans are complete.
To honor Kay’s memory, donations can be made to Community First Solutions, whose support was invaluable during her time of need.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Hamilton for their compassionate and exceptional care.
