Lawrence E. Brookshire

Lawrence E. Brookshire, age 92 of Hamilton passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2010. He was born in Clark County, Kentucky on November 23, 1917 the son of Edwin and Anna (Wills) Brookshire. Lawrence attended Sommerville School and was drafted into the U.S. Army on December 28, 1942, and remained an American Legion member. He was a broker for Mutual of Omaha Insurance, manager of Riverview Theatre, and retired from Fort Hamilton Hospital in 1983. Lawrence was a proud lifelong Democrat who loved gardening, woodworking, and helping others. On September 14, 1944 he married Wanda Fraley, and she preceded him in death in 2002.

He is survived by his devoted daughter Constance, David Locker; sister, Beatrice Burcham; and best friend Junior Willis. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Bessie Wulf, Josie Custer, and Verna Woods; and a brother, Gordon Brookshire.

A memorial visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Sunday, May 2, 2010 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 7:00 PM officiated by Rev. Jacob Flannery. Memorials may be made to Animal Friends Humane Society or to Shared Harvest.
