Lee Bowling

August 16, 1916 — March 14, 2012

Lee A. Bowling, age 95 of Hamilton passed away in Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, March 14, 2012. He was born August 16, 1916 in Breathitt County, Kentucky the son of William and Ruth (Asher) Bowling. Lee was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, where he participated in the Battle of the Bulge as an Ammunition Specialist. On May 1, 1943 he married Myrtle (Hall) Bowling. He was employed as a Road Construction Supervisor for the Butler County Engineer’s Office and was Co-Owner and Operator of Bowling’s Grocery and Carry-Out with his wife. He was a lifetime member of Hugh L. Bates Free Mason, Scottish Rite, and was a DAV Commander.

He is survived by daughters, Linda Houston and Sandra Bowling; siblings, Junior Bowling, Grace Simms and Betty Skinner; grandchildren, Sterling Streder, Scott (Alana) Houston, and Katrina Houston; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Brandon, Robbie, Kamie and Reagan; sister-in-law, Betty Bowling; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jerri Hill. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers, Green Bowling, Fred Bowling, and Walter Bowling; brothers-in-law, Paul Simms, Jimmie Skinner, Nicholas Mistler, and Robert Smith; and sisters-in-law, Virginia Mistler, Mildred Smith, Edna Bowling, and Louise Bowling.

Visitation will be 12:30pm until time of service (1:30pm) Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue with Rev. Jacob Flannery officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
