Leon D. "Nut" Chesnut

February 27, 1972 — January 16, 2016

Leon D. "Nut" Chesnut, age 43 of Eaton, passed away at his residence on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 4:43PM. He was born in Hamilton on February 27, 1972 to Morris Chesnut and Gail (Williams) Adelsperger. Leon was employed at IBEW Local#648 for 25 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Hamilton, a member of Greenhills United Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed playing softball. He coached and mentored multiple children in multiple sports over the past 21 years, including his son’s sports teams. On April 17, 1997 in Hamilton, he married Melissa L. McDuffee. Leon loved his boys more than life itself; his legacy will live on through them and those that he has touched.

He is survived by his wife Melissa Chesnut; three sons, Cody Chesnut, Nathan Chesnut, and Calvin Chesnut; his parents, Gail (Hooty) Adelsperger and Morris (Linda) Chesnut; one sister, Leah (Mike) Price; two nephews, Evan and Ian Price; grandmother, Kathrine Chesnut; sister in law, Jenny (Greg) Niederlehner, and one nephew, Garret (Critter); a brother (Cousin) Larry Chesnut; step brothers, Stacey (Tina) Nelson, and Chris (Stephanie) Adelsperger; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. He was preceded in death by three grandparents, Dorothy and Earl Williams, and Raymond Chesnut; one sister, Jennifer Chesnut; and one cousin, Damon Williams.

Funeral service will be held at Greenhills United Baptist Church, 2087 Fenton Road, on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 12Noon with Pastor Tim Mullins officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 from 5PM-8PM at the church, and also Wednesday from 11AM until time of service at 12 Noon. The family wants to express a special thank you to Olugbenga O. Olowokure (Dr. Benga) and the staff of UC Hematology Oncology. Memorial contributions can be made to Melissa Chesnut AND Leon Chesnut Fund at any First Financial Bank.
