Leroy F. King, age 88 of Trenton passed away at Berkeley Square health Care on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 7:00 AM. He was born in Hamilton on April 23, 1922 the son of Roy T. and Hilda (Glindmeier) King. Leroy was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945 with the 149th Engineers, where he saw action in the D-Day Invasion and Battle of the Bulge. He was an electrician and worked at Fernald, Armco, State of Ohio Department of Transportation and retired from General Motors in Moraine City/Dayton. After his retirement, Leroy enjoyed farming and raising cattle. He was a member of VFW and the Elks. On May 15, 1943 in Camp Carson, Colorado he married Alta Clareece Rucker.

He is survived by a brother, Richard (Mary Catherine) King of Hamilton; two sisters, Lois (Thomas) Simms and Mary Brodwolf, both of Hamilton; a sister-in-law, Helen King; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 65 years, Alta Clareece King in 2009; a brother, William M. King; a great-nephew, Justin King; and a brother-in-law, Robert Brodwolf.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Charles A. Staudenmaier, Pastor of Bethel Community Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
