Linal Alvin Boggess

Linal Alvin Boggess, age 96 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 3:40 PM. He was born in Charleston, West Virginia on November 8, 1911 the son of Benjamin Butler and Stella Myrtle (Duncan) Boggess. Linal was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945, serving as a Private First Class with the 334th Signal Company Wing and the 9th Army Air Force, a light bomber and fighter group supporting Patton’s 3rd Army. He was employed at Fisher Body and was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Penntown, Indiana and the Masonic Lodge of Sunman, Indiana. On July 29, 1991 in Maysville, Kentucky he married Della Robinson.

He is survived by his wife, Della Boggess of Hamilton; two sons, Benjamin (Paulette) Boggess and Jerry Boggess, both of Hamilton; a daughter, Marilyn Boggess of Hamilton; a stepson, Jeff (Sandy) Baker and their daughter Jenna of New Orleans, Louisiana; a stepdaughter, Melissa Baker of Greensburg, Indiana and her children Shelby, Shawn, Sheila, and Sarah Jones; three grandchildren, Rebekah and Benjamin Boggess, and Leighann Fightmaster; a great-grandson, Logan; and a sister, Clara Louise Pohlar of Batesville, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; his former spouse, Georgia Devonna; a son, Billy Joe Boggess; and a sister, Belva Bauman.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Daniel Hill of Dayton, Ohio officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
