Lloyd J. Merry, age 80 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 8:04 PM. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on December 20, 1929 the son of Kenneth and Lela (Jones) Merry. Lloyd was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1948 to 1953 and employed as a truck driver. He was a member of the American Legion. On November 6, 1952 he married Wanda Winsted.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Merry of Hamilton; five sons, Richard Merry, William (Lori) Merry, Florin Merry, Jeff Merry, and Thomas Merry, all of Hamilton; three daughters, Charlene (John) Branham of Hillsboro, Thelma Grimes of Hicksville, and Margie Coots of Hamilton; three brothers, Robert Merry, Larry Merry, and Donald Merry; two sisters, Dolly King and Carolyn Brown; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth Merry; two brothers, Leonard and Dale Merry; and three sisters, Dorothy Kirstein, Mary Cavin, and Judy Hamilton.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Mike Callihan of Living Word Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Hamilton for all their care and support.
