On October 7, 2014 Louis M. Popazivanov left this world in search of perfect hunting grounds. He was born on 11-23-36 in Cincinnati to Michael & Julia Popazivanov. Lou was preceded in death by his parents, much loved and often talked about grandparents Peter and Minnie Rankov, special cousin Michael Popp, and father-in-law Walter T. Brown.
He spent his youth learning to hunt and perfect his custom jewelry making skills. In recent years he’d been providing engagement and wedding rings to some of the grandchildren of his earliest customers. He always said "if you can draw it, I can make it." He spent most Novembers hunting pheasants in the land he loved, South Dakota. Lou said nothing was better than spending time in the field with his bird dogs. He passed his knowledge on to several generations of new shooters and hunters.
He was taught watch-making by his grandfather and he used that skill for over 25 years at Mosler where he met his wife of 39 years, Ellen. During this time he was also working part time at Winton Woods as a park ranger which led to working at Springfield Twp Police Dept as a patrolman spanning over 30 years. A job he loved.
Lou was a member of FOP Lodge 113, Corvettes of Hamilton and the National Muzzle Loader Assn. where he participated in their rendezvous. Proud of being a good shot, whether it be shooting trap, skeet, hunting, qualifying, or plinking in the field, he was happiest with his outdoor activities.
He leaves his wife Ellen, mother-in-law Ruth Brown, sister-in-law and DIY partner Connie Wyatt and her husband Skip of Springdale, his cousin Lucy Mueller of Denver and the last in a long line of great dogs, Luci and Riley. Always a big smile on his face and a jokester with an endless supply of stories to tell, Lou never met a stranger.
