Louise Pearl Thompson Rice, age 92, of Hamilton, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Friday, April 11, 2008. She was born in Morgantown, West Virginia on December 19, 1915, the daughter of Clarence and Gladys (Martin) Dodd. Louise was a manager for Canteen Corporation for 22 years, retiring in 1981. Her employment there consisted of twelve years at Champion and ten at Stearns & Foster. She attended Wesleyan Fellowship Chapel. In 1931 in Hamilton she married Russell Thompson; in 1981 in Hamilton she married Jack Rice, and both preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Elmer L. (Gracie) Thompson of Hamilton and Clarence (Won Jon) Thompson of Korea; two daughters, Darlene A. Leugers of Fairfield and Linda M. Waddell of Cincinnati; 27 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; four daughters, Virginia Burnside, Phyllis Kinsey, Melody McClean, and Edith Crosley; a granddaughter, Melinda Burnside; a great-grandson, Mark Hibbard; and a brother, Jack Dodd.
Funeral services will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Chaplain Myra Wentworth of Hospice of Cincinnati officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Hamilton for their care and concern.
