Louvada Bates, age 70 of Hamilton went home to be with the Lord from her residence on Tuesday, May 31, 2011. She was born in London, Kentucky on May 16, 1941 the daughter of Charlie and Priscilla (Gray) Owens. Louvada belonged to Pentecostal Faith Church. On December 29, 1956 in Liberty, Indiana she married Emery Bates.
She is survived by her husband, Emery Bates of Hamilton; four children, Penny Hatton of Hamilton, Bub (Connie) Bates of Lebanon, Cricket Seagraves and Michele (Dean) Carew, both of Hamilton; a daughter-in-law, LaDonna Bates of Hamilton; a brother, Hobert (Nora Lea) Owens of London, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Tessa, Jennifer, Benjamin, Tyler, Kayla, Darius Shane, and Jonathan; seven great-grandchildren, Christian, Justin, Abby, George, Austin, Heidi, and Ava; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Owens; her mother and stepfather, Priscilla and John Waddell; two sons, Johnny Lee Bates and Darius Gene Bates; six sisters, Mary Caldwell, Lillie Powell, Lea Parman, Patty Whitehead, Opal Eldridge, and Vern Horne; and a brother, Robert Owens.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 9:00 AM with Lonnie Spurlock and Willie Ray Smith officiating. Burial will follow on Friday at 3:30 PM at Flannery Cemetery in Tyner, Kentucky. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
