Lovis F. "Maugie" Young

Lovis F. "Maugie" Young, age 91 of Hamilton, passed away at Birchwood Care Center on Thursday, November 19, 2009. She was born in Owsley Co., Kentucky on January 11, 1918. She was the grand-daughter of John and Nancy Ann (Crossenberry) Brewer. She retired from Wright – Burnett Brush Factory and was a former employee of Estate Stove Co. An excellent cook, she worked at various restaurants. Lovis enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, quilting, cooking, and playing the organ at church. On Aug. 22, 1934, in Travellers Rest, Ky. she married her Husband of 61 yrs., Joe Herd Young who passed away May 5, 1996.

She is survived by four daughters; LuAnn (the late Robert) Farmer, Janet (Roland) Barger, Mamie (the late Terry) Lewis, and Rosalee (Jack) Beaudoin, all of Hamilton; nine grandchildren, Suzette (Kim) Wentz, Robin (Kathy Young) Dole, Bob (Angie) Farmer, Melinda Barger, Joey (Jana) Lewis, Mark (Sarah Hubbard) Lewis, Jason (Rachele) Beaudoin, Brandy (Keith Scherfrantz) Beaudion, Jackie Beaudoin; ten great grand-children, Ian, Josh (Laura), Zak, Brady, Mariah, Taylor, Jackson, Zane, Brooklyn, Keegan; a sister in-law, Ethel Venable of Fairfield; and special friends Betty and George Simpson of Fairfield, Jesse Kitts, and Brad Cornett both of Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Beulah Bales; and a brother, Reagan Venable.

Funeral services will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave, on Tues. Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Kenneth Tye of Horseshoe Bend Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Mon. from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Horseshoe Bend Baptist Church. Lovis’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to Stacy Mauceri, Shannon Shanks, and Michelle Terry of Birchwood Care Center for their care and concern.
