Lowell D. Strong

May 5, 1936 — July 23, 2017

Lowell D. Strong, age 81 of Hamilton, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Sunday, July 23, 2017 after a courageous battle with thyroid cancer. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on May 5, 1936 the son of Fred and Carrye (Gaines) Strong. Lowell graduated from Hamilton High School Class of 1954 and was a trainer for the 1954 High School State Basketball Champions. Lowell was a veteran of the Untied States Army from 1956 to 1958. He graduated from Miami University and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. While at Miami he was a football trainer for Coach Ara Parseghian and Coach John Pont. Lowell was a life member of the Elks #93 and enjoyed playing golf with his golf buddies, his son, son-in-law and grandson.

Lowell was a Bond Underwriter for Ohio Casualty, Cincinnati Financial and retired from Cigna Insurance.

He and his wife, Mary Jean (Fritsch) Strong were married September 15, 1962 and celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2012 with a trip to Hilton Head, S.C. with their family. They enjoyed traveling to all fifty states, Canada, and Europe. His most memorable trip was Rome, Italy where he and his wife were blessed to touch the hand of Pope John Paul II.

He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Mary Jean; daughter, Beth (Rob) Enderle; grandchildren, Will and Sarah Enderle; son David L. Strong and special friend, Suzanne Walton; his sister Frankie (Ellis) Ittel; his nieces, Debbie Ittel, Sherry Ittel and Kim (Lonnie) Phipps and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Bob Fritsch.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, 451 Ridgelawn Ave., on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 10:30 AM with Fr. Rob Muhlenkamp, Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Stephens Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to St. Peter in Chains Church, Badin High School Scholarship Fund. Maureen L. Fritsch CAF/Hamilton Community Foundation or Hospice of Hamilton.
