Lucy Blackwood

Lucy Blackwood, age 88, of Hamilton went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 13, 2012, at Hospice of Hamilton. Lucy was born in Rock Castle, KY on December 14, 1923. She moved to Hamilton when she was a child and she attended Hamilton Schools. She was the youngest of 10 kids born to Tilman and Etta Mae (Perry) Seals. On December 25, 1940 she married Stanley Richardson who preceded her in death on February 14, 1970. Lucy then married Leroy Blackwood on June 17, 1981 who then preceded her in death on August 11, 1998. Lucy was a member of the Church of God of the Union Assembly for 68 years. She was also an employee of the McDonalds Corp for 35 years on Erie Highway.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; 9 siblings; 2 grandchildren, Anthony Richardson and Cheryl Bell; and great grandchild, Christy Bailey. Lucy is survived by her son, Vernon (Irene) Richardson; 3 grandchildren, Verna (Gary) Jackson, Vernon (Amber) Richardson and LeJandie (Kenny) Estes; grandson in law, Marty Bell; 10 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5pm until time of service (7pm), Monday, January 16, 2012, at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home 330 Pershing Avenue, Hamilton with Pastor Oley Wilson officiating. . Burial will follow in Dalton, GA.
