Lucy McCracken, age 68 of Hamilton passed away at her residence on Monday, August 25, 2008. She was born in Mill Creek, Kentucky on May 17, 1940 the daughter of Johnnie and Mellie (Thompson) Hoskins. Lucy was employed as an STNA at Wellington Manor Health Care for fifteen years. She enjoyed gardening and sewing, and took immense pride in her grandchildren. On October 9, 1957 in Indiana, she married Ronald E. McCracken and he preceded her in death in 1991.
She is survived by a son, Jeffrey (Stephanie) McCracken of Warner Robins, Georgia; a daughter, Jennifer McCracken of Hamilton; five grandchildren, Alex (who held a special place in his grandma’s heart), Alan, Jani, Denny, and Emily; a brother, Ed Hoskins of Pineville, Kentucky; a sister, Deloris Brock of Jellico, Tennessee; five sisters-in-law, Coralie Maggard, Carol Johnson, and Connie Winchester, all of Fairfield, Louise McCracken of Trenton, and Sharon McCracken of Hamilton; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Timothy McCracken; and siblings Amanda Hoskins, Phronia Robinson, Ada Warren, Hubert Hoskins, Carrie Johnson, Alice Kramer, and Myrtle Mabis.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Randy J. Moore of Lindenwald Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
