Luther "Luke" Croucher

On Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 10:20 PM, Luther "Luke" Croucher, age 79 of Hamilton, finished his race and entered the embrace of his beloved Jesus at Hospice of Hamilton.

Known for his passionate love of God, his family and his church family, Luke was a devoted and involved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Unconditional love was the fabric of his life and the motivating force of the prayer that undergirded his family. Tears would often mingle with Luke’s words when he spoke of his Savior and the people he loved. Forgiveness was his way of life and he leaves to all of us a legacy of love.

He was born in Hamilton on December 2, 1930 the son of Luther and Delia (Allen) Croucher. Luther was a member of the Calvary Christian Center and was employed as a trimmer operator for Champion International for 47 years, retiring in 1993. On April 29, 1950 in Hamilton he was married to Alma Strong.

He is survived by his wife, Alma Croucher of Hamilton; one son, Steven (Gwen) Croucher of West Chester; one daughter, Cindy (Rick) Harbrecht of Hamilton; two sisters, Pauline Olinger of St. Petersburg, Florida and Gertrude Durham of Covina, California; three grandchildren, Brian and Kim Johnson and Eric Croucher; also four great-grandchildren, Kiersten, Taylor, Luke, and Dylan. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Owen, Lloyd, and Clarence Croucher; and one sister, Ellen Wren.

Funeral services will be held at the Calvary Christian Center, 2355 Jacksonburg Road, on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Revs. Jim and Diane Mullins and Rev. Earl Mills officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
