Luther Otto Horning, age 86 of Hamilton passed away at his residence on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 5:35 PM. He was born in Hamilton on August 29, 1923 the son of Carl and Clara (Cordes) Horning. Luther was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He was employed as vice-president and director of customer service at Hamilton Tool. Luther was an adventurer who loved flying and boating, and was an avid golfer. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. On July 26, 1952 in Hamilton he married Dorothy Rose.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Horning of Hamilton; a son, Tony (Vikki) Horning of Monroe; three grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessica, and Barbie; a great-grandson, Luther; a stepbrother, Jack Lowes of Hamilton; a niece, Laureen (John) Rider of West Chester; and a number of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Horning and Clara Lowes; a daughter, Tammy Barnes; and a stepbrother, Pat Lowes.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, August 6, 2010 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Daniel Snider officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Greg and Bev Bryant and their children Jordan and Brooke, Bob Lentz, and a host of friends and family.
