Mae W. Black, age 90 of New Miami passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 9:50 AM. She was born in Hamilton on May 2, 1923 the daughter of Robert and Mattie (Rice) Brandenburg, and was a lifelong resident of New Miami. During World War II, Mae worked at General Motors as a "Rosie the Riveter" and was later employed in the rolling department at Champion International. She loved playing bingo and had many good "bingo buddies." Until her health prevented it in recent years, Mae enjoyed working with flowers and in her yard. She was the final surviving member of her siblings. On January 3, 1939 in New Miami, she married Elwood S. Black, and he preceded her in death in 1980.

She is survived by daughters, Patricia Moore of New Miami and Brenda (Bill) Gamble of Somerville; daughter-in-law, Brenda Oglesby-Black of Plymouth, Indiana; a special nephew, Richard Brandenburg of New Miami; special friend Gail Moore of New Miami; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Darlene Lenos, Ronald Black, and Donald Black; brothers William, Carl, Charles, Findley and Clyde Brandenburg; sisters, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Steele and Emogene "Dolly" Laws; and son-in-law, Mark Moore.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Alan Weaver of Hamilton Church of God officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Hospice of Hamilton for all their care and support.
