Mahlon C. "M.C." Fields

Mahlon C. "M.C." Fields, age 72 of Hamilton passed away in University Hospital, Cincinnati, on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at 1:13 PM. He was born in Fariston, Kentucky on August 6, 1934 the son of Lloyd and Julie (McFadden) Fields. M.C. was a very active member of Cherry Valley United Baptist Church, a Republican central committee man since 1982, an avid gardener; he enjoyed visiting the sick and serving the Lord was his greatest joy. He was a veteran of the United States Army in 1957, and was employed as a carpenter for the Southwest Ohio Carpenter’s Union for twenty years, retiring in 1976.

He is survived by one daughter, Veronica Harris of Hamilton; one brother, John Fields of Hamilton; two sisters, Mayrene Smith and Amanda Hundley, both of Hamilton; nine nieces and nephews, Susie, Roger, Denny, Lloyd, Pam, Barbara, Tammy, Julie, and David; and a number of great-nieces and nephews, all who called him Papaw; and a special cousin, Wendell Sweet, with whom he enjoyed all of Hamilton High School sports. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Estill, Charlie, and Raymond; and a nephew, Randy.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, June 11, 2007 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Denny Fields, Rev. Claude Robinson, and Rev. Clovis Shackelford officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial to Cherry Valley United Baptist Church or the American Diabetes Association.
