Marcella A. Geisler, age 85 of Hamilton passed away at her residence on Monday, April 23, 2012. She was born in Hamilton on November 5, 1926 the daughter of Nicholas and Kathryn (Devore) Maus. Sally, as she was known to friends, was a 1944 graduate of Dixon Township School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. During her time as a student nurse, she as well as her two sisters were Nurse Corps cadets. After graduation, she moved to Hamilton, where she raised her family. Sally was employed for a brief time at Fort Hamilton Hospital, then worked for Mercy Hospital for the next 41 years, retiring in 1988. She was an avid golfer, participating in Women’s Senior League for many years, and she always looked forward to an annual fall golf outing with friends. Sally was also an active Kiwanian and was voted Kiwanian of the Year for 1992-1993. She loved playing pinochle and was in the same women’s club for over 59 years. Sally volunteered many hours at Mercy Hospital in the "heart-menders" program after her own surgery. She also served on the Emergency Money Fund. Sally was a devout Catholic and member of St. Peter in Chains Church her entire adult life.
She is survived by her children, Thomas Geisler of Hamilton, Cheryl Irons of Bellevue, Ohio, James (Claudia) Geisler of Hillsboro, Ohio and William Geisler of Eastlake, Ohio; six grandchildren, Julie Luckman, Katie Geisler, Kevin Geisler, Jenny Sloas, Keriann Wyckoff, and Sarah Irons; as well as five great-grandchildren, Hayden and Brady Luckman, Jenna and James Wyckoff, and Fletcher Sloas. She was preceded in death by Walter Geisler; her parents; two sisters, Helena Tasso and Mary Harding; and a brother, Nicholas Maus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, 382 Liberty Avenue, on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Ronald Haft, Celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Mercy Hospital Heart Menders Program or to Hospice of Cincinnati.
