Margaret “Jean” Kerby, age 93 of New Miami, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 3, 2025. Jean was born in Reily Twp, Ohio on July 11, 1932 to James and Phebe (nee Peacock) Kerby. She was the valedictorian of Seven Mile High School and graduated from Fort Wayne Bible College and Miami University. Jean traveled North America with an acapella group. She taught second grade at New Miami Elementary School for 35 years. Jean was a devout Christian who loved serving her Lord. She was currently a member of New Miami Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed music, writing, reading, family time, cooking, traveling and nature.
Jean is survived by her nieces and nephews, Ray (Julia) Kerby, Wayne (Lucy) Kerby, Bill (Karen) Kerby, Phoebe Kerby, Audrey Kerby, Norma (John) Armstrong, Judy Pelton, Guy (the late Gayla) Kerby, Denise Devney, David (Denise) Bell and Brian (Karla) Bell; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and her dear friend, Grace Thompson.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Henry Kerby, William Earl Kerby, Leona Wysong, Jim Kerby and Carol Bell; and her nephews, Ted Kerby, Jimmy Kerby and George Bell Jr.
Graveside service will be held at Hickory Flat Cemetery, 4464 Morganthaler Road, Hamilton, Ohio, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Roger Shaw officiating.
