Margaret L. Mathis

Margaret L. Mathis, age 86 of Hamilton passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 9:35 AM. As a Christian, Margaret has gone home to be with the Lord and to join her loving husband, Arnold, of 62 wonderful years. We have not lost her. She is only gone a little before us. There we shall soon find her and enjoy her again, eternally. A loving mother and wife, Margaret enjoyed cooking for her family and playing the piano at church. She was born in Sidell, Illinois on January 20, 1922 the daughter of Philip and Julia (Spivey) Maupin. Margaret was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. She was united in marriage to Arnold on July 6, 1946 and he preceded her in death on August 21, 2008.

She is survived by two sons, Ron (Amy) Mathis and Mike (Patty) Mathis, both of Hamilton; a daughter, Belinda (David) Richter of Fairfield; nine grandchildren, Steve (Rebekah) Mathis, Kevin (Angie) Mathis, both of Hamilton, Tracy (Scott) Day of Fairfield, Mike (Kari) Mathis of Hamilton, Andy (Rosetta) Glock of Fairfield, Emily (Jason) Murray of Hamilton, Amy (Ross) Thompson of Monroe, Melissa (Joe) Blower of Hamilton, and Sarah Richter of Fairfield; nine great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Kayla, Courtney, Hannah, Brock, Jake, Kaelyn, Isabella, and Brynna; and a sister, Gertie (Charles) Warren of Fairfield Township. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Elzie, Leonard, General, and John Maupin; and a sister, Betty Jane Church.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Ernie Murray officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
