Marie E. Richter

Marie E. Richter, age 91 a resident of Mercy Franciscan at Schroder passed away in Ft. Hamilton Hospital Hospice Unit on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at 3:40 AM. She was born in Hamilton on July 3, 1915, the daughter of Frank M. and Elizabeth (Laing) Fritsch. Marie was a graduate of Mt. Notre Dame Academy in Cincinnati, employed at Mercy Hospital until 1957. From 1958 to 1968, she operated with her husband and sister, Loretta, "Richter’s Gift Shop", returning to Mercy Hospital after her husband’s death in 1969, retiring in 1980. She was an active member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society of the parish; a former volunteer at St. Raphael’s Thrift Store; for many years coordinator of St. Raphael’s bridge tournaments; past president and active member of the Cooperative Service League. On February 11, 1953 in Hamilton, she was married to Frank Richter and he preceded her in death on March 11, 1969.

She is survived by one daughter, Marianne Gavurnik of Cincinnati; seven nephews, William (Collette) Fritsch, Richard (Kelly) Fritsch, Edward (Susan) Fritsch, Tom (Mary) Fritsch, Donald (Peggy) Fritsch, Stephen (Maureen) Fritsch and Donald Meehan; eight nieces, Mary Jean (Lowell) Strong, Maryellen (Robert) Zeinner, Marilyn (Ronald) Vidourek, Ann (Lou) Janik, Betty McGrath, Marcia (Mel) Melton, Barbara Geisler and Patricia (Gene) Spoerl and many loving great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Lawrence, Walter, Howard, Frank, Louis, Victor and Joseph Fritsch; four sisters, Loretta, Estelle, Regina Fritsch and Adele Linfert; three sisters-in-law, Betty, Rose and Dorothy Fritsch; one brother-in-law, Mark Linfert; three nephews, Robert and Frank Fritsch and Daniel Linfert; and one niece, Maureen Fritsch.

Prayers will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave. on Monday, May 21, 2007 at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter In Chains Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with Father Tim Bunch, Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Maureen Fritsch CAF, % of the Hamilton Community Foundation, the Epilepsy Foundation or St. Peter In Chains Catholic Church. The family would like to thank the Staff of Mercy Franciscan at Schroder and the nurses at Ft. Hamilton Hospital Hospice Unit for their loving care and concern.
