Marilyn Cassano, age 66 of Hamilton passed away in Hospice of Hamilton on Friday, August 22, 2008 at 1:45 AM. She was born in Hamilton on December 24, 1941 the daughter of Elmer and Mildred (Doellman) O’Dell. Marilyn was a 1959 graduate of Notre Dame High School, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Catholic Church, K of C #968 Auxiliary, and the Altar Rosary Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was employed as a beautician for various shops in Hamilton for twenty-five years, retiring in 1982; and then was a demonstrator for various companies at Wal-Mart for three years. On January 28, 1961 in Hamilton she was married to Jack Cassano.
A devoted wife, mom, and grandma, she is survived by her husband, Jack Cassano of Hamilton; one son, Rick (Kriss) Cassano of Fairfield; one daughter, Lisa (Joe) Hetterich of Hamilton; one brother, Donald O’Dell of Mason; one sister, Nancy Becker of Hamilton; four grandchildren who were the light of her life, Jimmy and Marcie Hetterich, Tony and Kelly Cassano. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Ann (Joe) Bavaro of Kettering, three brothers-in-law, Sam Cassano, Mike (Brenda) Cassano, and Ralph Cassano all of Hamilton, nieces and nephews who were dear to her, Chris and Jill O’Dell, Steve (Sheila) Becker, Mark (Michele) Becker, Joey (Susan) Bavaro, Rosanne Mock, and Teresa (Doug) Bierlein; her close friends Carol Minor and Susan Brown, and her very dear neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister-in-law, Sharon O’Dell in 1992; a brother-in-law, James Becker in 1968; a nephew, David Becker; and a niece, Laurie D’Amico.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Monday, August 25, 2008 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Stephen Mondiek, Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Sunday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to Hospice of Cincinnati or American Cancer Society. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Hospice of Hamilton for their loving care and concern.
