Martha B. Daniel

Martha B. Daniel, age 90 of Lebanon passed away at Tri-County Extended Care on Monday, February 23, 2009 at 9:00 PM. She was born in Russellville, Arkansas on June 22, 1918 the daughter of Francis Marion and Susan (Kelly) Hensley. Martha was employed as a proofreader at the Journal News for 18 years, retiring in 1972. She was a member of Princeton Pike Church of God, where she was active in the Golden Pikers and Amazing Grace Choir. In 1936 in Hamilton, she married Samuel Barrett, and he preceded her in death in 1954; in 1956 in Liberty, Indiana she married Wayne Daniel, and he preceded her in death in 1994.

She is survived by a son, Robert Carl (Marjorie) Barrett of Lebanon; two grandchildren, Robert J. (Melissa) Barrett of Lebanon and Gregory H. Barrett of Fairfield; three great-grandchildren, Emma, Jack, and Holly; three brothers, Harvey C. Hensley of Nacogdoches, Texas, Steven Hensley of Fairfield, and Millard Kelley of Georgia; five sisters, Francine Garrett of Fairfield, Melva Kay Phelps of Dalton, Georgia, Rita Brehm of Dalton, Georgia, Fannie Disney of Fairfield, and Margaret Radoff of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Francis Marion Hensley; her mother, Susan Kelley; a daughter, Janet Fay Barrett; four brothers, William, Herbert, and Martin Hensley, and Robert Kelley; and two sisters, Elizabeth Kemplen and Dorothy Fitzgerald.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Rick Witt of Faith Pentecostal Church of Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM.
