Martha L. Powell

Martha L. Powell, age 80 of West Chester passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at 11:35 PM. She was born in Ridgeway, Ohio on February 4, 1928 the daughter of Howard and Margaret (Beaty) Godwin. Martha was a teacher for Ross Local Schools and a member of the Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary. On June 27, 1953 in Mason, she married James D. Powell, and he preceded her in death in 2002.

She is survived by a son, James H. (Kathleen) Powell of Hamilton; a daughter, Beth Powell of West Chester; and two devoted grandchildren, Amanda (Marcus) Slay of Hamilton and Scott Powell of Fairfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Godwin and Margaret Powell.

A memorial service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 6:30 PM with Rev. Jacob Flannery officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Martha’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staffs of Ft. Hamilton Hospital and Hospice of Hamilton for their care and support.
