Martha Rose Rauen

Martha Rose (Schnorbus) Rauen, age 84 of Oxford, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015. She was born June 3, 1930 in Kenton County Kentucky to Albert and Frances (Hoersting) Schnorbus. She graduated from St. Henry High School in 1948. She married Robert W. Rauen at St. Agnes Church in Park Hills, Kentucky on February 3, 1951. Martha was very involved in St. Mary Catholic Church, serving as President of the Ladies Society along with running the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry for many years. She was member of the Oxford Senior Citizens. Living on a farm, Martha was also a member of the Butler County Farm Bureau and Southwest Woodland Owners.

Martha was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and was always there to help anyone in need. She worked along with her husband on many projects from running the farm, to tending a very large garden, to caring for an apiary. In her later days, her favorite pastime was playing cards and she spent many an hour playing with friends and family.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert Rauen; son, Mark Joseph (Roberta) Rauen; daughter, Beth Rauen (Bryan) Sasser; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a sister, Marion Schnorbus; and many close friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Rauen Lee; son, James "Jimmy" Rauen; sisters, Elsie, Gertrude, Ruth, Frances, Rita, Vera, and Helen; brothers, Paul and Leo; and her parents.

A Memorial mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 111 E. High St., Oxford on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11:00 AM with a private burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Oxford. A memorial gathering will be held at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati, 1010 Eaton Avenue, Hamilton Ohio 45013.
