Martha Wombles, age 70 of Hamilton passed away in Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 9:43 PM. She was born in London, Kentucky on April 26, 1938 the daughter of Woodrow and Gracie (McKnight) House. Martha was a 1956 graduate of Hanover High School, a member of Brown’s Chapel United Baptist Church, and was employed as a secretary for Beckett Paper Company for twenty-seven years, retiring in 1995. On July 7, 1956 in Aurora, Indiana she was married to Earl Wombles.
She is survived by her husband, Earl Wombles of Hamilton; one son, David (Tari) Wombles of Hamilton; one daughter, Diane (Edward) Sanders of Hamilton; one brother, George (Josephine) House of Hamilton; one sister, Dezzie Smallwood of Oxford; seven grandchildren, Jessica, JoLynn, Chad, Brad, Erica, Brandi, and Eddie; and also ten great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews, loved ones and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Cora House.
Funeral services will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 11:00 AM with Rev. James House and Rev. Roger Williams officiating. Burial will be in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
