Mary Ann Carter

Mary Ann Carter, age 83 of Hamilton, passed away at Golden Years Nursing Center on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 11:20 PM. She was born in Middletown on March 21, 1932 the daughter of Edward and Pricie (Rae) Back. On October 11, 1948 in Middletown she married Rev. John Wesley Carter, Sr. and he preceded her in death in 1986. She was the co-founder, alongside her husband, of God’s Temple, which she devoted her life to.

She is survived by four children, Valerie (James) Trissell-McCann of Hamilton, Shirley Parker of Bloomington, Indiana, Blanche (Phillip) Gronemeyer of Chicago, Illinois, and John W. Carter, Jr. of Hamilton; one brother, Bobby (Joyce) Back of Eaton; one sister, Naomi (Donald) Brewer of Enterprise, Florida; nine grandchildren, Shawn, Nicole, Mary, Chet, Richard, Gary, Heather, Abigail, and John; eleven great grandchildren, Collin, Mariah, Holden, Kody, Samantha, Gavin, McKenna, Stella, Lela, Ally, and Alaney; one great great grandchild, Kaiden; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by parents; five siblings, Clarence, Dallas, Odry, and Richard Back, and Dorothy Combs; one grandson, Tommie; and her son-in-law, Jerry Parker.

Funeral service will be held at God's Temple, 3600 Millikin Road, on Monday, August 24, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Dr. Gary Miles officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the church. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the church.
