Mary E. "Aunt Tommy" Combs, age 78 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at 4:09 AM. She was born in Hamilton on November 2, 1930 the daughter of Perry and Allie (Hampton) Singleton. Mary was a member of the Washington Chapter #195 of Ohio Eastern Star, where she held various positions. She was also a member emeritus of Greater Hamilton Women’s Bowling Association. On December 20, 1947 in Hamilton she married William Combs, and he preceded her in death in 1987.
She is survived by two sons, Perry (Karen) Combs and Daniel "Yogi" (Cheri) Combs of Hamilton; four daughters, Allie "Mutt" Humphrey, Donna (Thomas) Harnish, Sharon (Andrew) Miller, all of Hamilton, and Elizabeth (Merrill) Linkous of Fairfield; a brother, John Singleton of Fairfield Township; a sister, Anna Linardos of Hamilton; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Larry Cupp of Corbin, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Margaret Cupp; a granddaughter, Sherri Humphrey; a son-in-law, Steve Humphrey; and five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Jacob Flannery officiating. Burial will follow in Venice Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 Lyndon B.
