Mary Ann (Harris) Garrod

August 3, 1944- July 1, 2026

Mary Ann (Harris) Garrod passed away at her daughter’s home on Wednesday July 1, 2026, at the age of 81.

Mary Ann was born on August 3, 1944, to the late Paul P. Harris and Florence L. (Sroufe) Harris of Hamilton, Ohio. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1962. Mary married Ronald L. Garrod November 14, 1964, at St, Peter in Chains Catholic Church Hamilton, Ohio.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Florence, Her Brothers Gordon and Donald P. Harris and her sister Lorraine C. (Harris) Renners, her husband of 52 years Ronald L. Garrod and son Mark R. Garrod.

Mary Ann is survived by daughters Michele M. (Michael) Wolke and Angela L. (John) Paugh and daughter-in-law Rose (Payne) Garrod.

Mary was blessed with grandchildren; Michael J Wolke Jr., Matthew C. Wolke, Olivia Wolke (Zachary Birkenheuer), Page (Mike) Seeger, Elizabeth K. (Toby) Croucher, Brooke A. Garrod, William Blake Garrod, Thaddeus Ridder.

Her joy was her great-grandchildren: Aiden Herbers, Jaycob, Benjamin and Anna Croucher, Mark Elliott Garrod, Levi and Marcus Garrod.

She leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews and many close friends.

From the age of 14 Mary Ann taught ballet and dance for Sroufe Studio in Hamilton. Mary was a talented ballet dancer and performed in many dance productions. A “Bettette “. She taught for her aunt Betty and uncle Bud Sroufe and worked with the Badin High School Gymnastics and Drill Team through the early 1970s.She was active with the St Ann Rosary Society, Pierce Elementary PTA, Lindenwald area Brownie and Girl scout troops while she raised her three children. In the 1990’s she returned to teaching dance, with her daughter Michele (Director), to Badin High School Color Guard/ Dance Team and Winter Color Guard. She was active though the end of her life with her sister Lorraine and many friends at the Fairfield Community Arts Center. She was active in Wii Bowling, bingo and pottery classes as well as many card parties, games and Wii Bowling groups she cherished at the Eden Park Senior Apartment building where she resided for the last several years of her life. Through the generations, she raised children, watched them excel academically, watched them play baseball, softball, soccer, bowl, play musical instruments, sing, dance, and perform in many musicals. She was part of and directed many talent, stage, floor and field productions. Mary Ann supported anything her family dreamed… And so, we will all see her in our dreams.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3028 Pleasant Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio, on Friday, July 10, 2025, 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Buter County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
