Mary Juanita Marcum

Mary Juanita (Garland) Marcum, age 79 of Hamilton, left this life on Friday, December 20, 2013. She was the daughter of Millard and Mary (Minton) Garland; born in Hamilton on May 25, 1934. She attended New Miami Elementary, Seven Mile Elementary, and Hanover High School. After graduating, she went to work at Albers Market. When leaving Albers she went to work at Fort Hamilton Hughes Memorial Hospital, retiring from the laboratory after 20 years. Juanita was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Chuck Cain Post #7670 and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed country music, Reds baseball, fishing, knitting and crocheting.

The most important thing in life were her children she left behind, Edwinna (Robert) Buck, Mary (Darryl) Eversole, N. Deanna (Bobby) Garrison, Eddie (Diane) Marcum; nine grandchildren, Natasha and Daniel Marcum, Adam, Jacob (Jennifer) and Mason Lenos, Shayla Hoskins, Jennifer (Ryan), Jason and Jeanna (Geisz) Marcum; eight great grandchildren, Alex, Alyssa, Madison, Xavier, James, Austin, Courtney and Cynthia; a very special niece and her husband, Tammy (Garland) Dan Stapleton; her brother, Bill (Charlene) Garland; a beloved friend, George Smith; special lifelong friends, Jean Kelly, Willard and Virginia Lewis, Paul and Vonda Smith, Kenny Kelly, Donna Bown and Amy Northern; and many brother and sister in laws. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mildred; four brothers, Stanley, DB, Orville (Nan), and Jim Garland; and the father of her children, Ed "Bigun" Marcum.

Visitation will be 5-7pm, Friday, December 27, 2013, at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, with cremation to follow. The family would like to give a special thank you to Huntington Court Rehabilitation Unit and all the staff for the wonderful love and care that was given to our mother, Hospice of Hamilton and Dr. Thomas Sargero. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
