Mary Smith Potter

Mary Smith Potter, age 55 of Oxford passed away at McCullough Hyde Memorial Hospital on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at 3:35 PM. She was born in Hamilton on October 5, 1954 the daughter of Ray V. and Birdie (Smallwood) Smith. Mary was a member of Auburn Old Time Holiness Church. On July 2, 1999 in Oxford, she married Fred Potter Jr. and he preceded her in death in 2002.

She is survived by her mother, Birdie Smith of Hamilton; two brothers, Jimmy (Theresa) Smith of Camden and Kenneth (Gladys) Smith of Hamilton; four sisters, Doris Smith of Oxford, Josephine (A.B.) Gray of Hamilton, Nancy Nelson of Hamilton, and Mattie (Harold) Gray of Oxford. She was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Amel Smith and Coy Smith; and a sister, Bonnie Smith.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Granville Saylor of Auburn Old Time Holiness Church officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
