Mary June Stang
Mary Stang, age 82 passed away Sunday morning 12-4-2016 at her home in Hamilton. She was born July 27th, 1934 in Columbus, Georgia to her parents Clara and Richard Meinhardt. Mary lived her adult life in Hamilton, OH. She was a 1953 graduate of Notre Dame High School which served as a Catholic school for young ladies in Hamilton until 1966. In Mary’s early career she worked in the Butler County Commissioner’s office, and for Butler County Lumber, before being self-employed many years at Stang’s Upholstery with her husband George Stang. In later years, since George’s passing in 1989, Mary worked in the offices of Champion International before it closed. Most recently and for the last 20 years, Mary worked full time as a Customer Service Representative for Hammacher Schlemmer. She enjoyed her job at Hammacher Schlemmer where she worked full time until the age of 81, and only had to take permanent medical leave after being in an automobile accident last year.
Mary had many friends and stayed in contact with her classmates from Notre Dame Class of ‘53 over the years. She loved singing, playing the piano and had a beautiful voice. She enjoyed dancing, reading, swimming, playing cards, movies, dining out, and was a member of several Red Hat groups.
Mary is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Betty and Bob Johnson of Hamilton; her brother and sister-in-law Fred and Linda Meinhardt of Hamilton; brother and sister-in-law James and Angela Meinhardt of Camden, OH, and George’s sister and her husband Dixie and Marvin Sunderhaus of Shandon, OH. She will be greatly missed by her 4 children and their spouses: Michael Stang of Union City, MI; Richard and Kim Stang of Alexandria, KY; George Alan and Bethany Stang of Lenoir, NC; and Valerie Stang of Hamilton. She had 5 grandchildren: Victoria Reynolds of Hamilton, Nathan Stang of Bloomington, IN; Joshua Reynolds of Simla, CO; Emily Hebb of Alexandria, KY; and Elana Stang of Alexandria, KY. Mary also had 2 great grandchildren, Christian and Skyllar both living in Hamilton.
As her wished cremation has taken place, a memorial in honor of Mary’s life will be held at Brown Dawson Funeral Home December 17th starting at 10:00AM with a service at 11:00. Private interment of her ashes will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery immediately following the memorial service.
The family is grateful for the wonderful care of Hospice of Cincinnati. If desired, and in lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made in Mary’s name.
