Mary Opal Swick

June 2, 1919 — November 15, 2012

Mary Opal Swick, age 93 of Hamilton passed away at her residence on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 4:50 PM. She was born in Harlan County, Kentucky on June 2, 1919 the daughter of George W. and Nora E. (Blanton) Simpson. During World War II, Mary served in the Women’s Army Corp (WAC). On June 24, 1945 in Martenis, California she married Johnnie Swick, and he preceded her in death in 2008.

She is survived by a son, John (Joyce) Swick of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Patrick (Lori) Swick of Boseman, Montana, Phillip Swick of Trenton, and Jennifer Henley of Trenton; and two great-grandchildren, Phillip Swick Jr., U.S. Army Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and Zachary Henley. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Earl, Leonard, and Charles Simpson; and five sisters, Mabel Bishop, Ruth Fultz, Donna Harris, Ann Simpson, and Loraine Rumpler.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 2:30PM with Rev. Jacob Flannery officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 1:30PM – 2:30PM.
