Mary Catherine Uhl

Age 92, of Hamilton, passed away on September 18, 2011. Born on February 7, 1919 in Hamilton, OH, daughter of James and Elizabeth (Schmitt) Bannon. Caring for her family and working hard brought her great pride and joy. She was a long-time member of the Hamilton Boat club, loved gardening and enjoyed crafts and stitchery. Her storytelling and creative writing was much admired, with tales of life on the farm and recollections of trips across the country with her husband Charlie. Mary would tell you to remember her by embracing life and your family as she has done for all of her 92 years. Preceded in death by her parents, spouse Charles Uhl, brothers Raymond, Robert, George, James and Dale Bannon, and former spouse Delbert Shelton. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son James Shelton (dear friend Charleen Ruhlman), daughter Sharon (Ralph) Smith, and step-daughter Myrna Feyh; grandchildren Jody Davis, Patrick (Sara) Shelton, Ken (Roberta) Smith, Laura (David) Cleavinger, Anita Smith, and Diana Parker; great grandchildren Ann Fugate, Ellen (George) Deems, Emily Shelton, Natalie, Logan (Katie), Caitlin, Walker, and Presley Smith, DJ and Kyle Cleavinger; great-great grandchild Layla Fugate; dear sisters Irene Foley and Marjorie (Fred) Conrad. Visitation will be Friday, September 23, from 10 am until time of service at 12noon at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, Pershing Ave., Hamilton. Burial will follow at St. Stephens Cemetery.
