Mary R. (Rizzo) Lawson

Mary R. Lawson, age 93 of Hamilton, passed away at her residence on Thursday, November 21, 2024. Mary was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts on June 26, 1931 to Malverino and Teresa (nee Cardone) Rizzo. On September 5, 1955 in Revere, MA she married Eugene T. Lawson, and shortly afterward they moved to Oxford, OH. Mary worked at Mercy Hospital in Hamilton for 34 years. She loved to dance whether line dancing, square dancing, ball room dancing and was a member of Golden Tappers and Red Hatters. Mary was a fantastic cook, especially Italian food, and was known for being a high strung, hot blooded Italian lady. Mary was very determined to complete anything she put her mind to, very independent and was very strong willed. She was also kindhearted, fiercely loyal and loved her family and animals dearly.

Mary is survived by her children, Mark E. (Cheryl) Lawson, Marla A. (Wayne) Morey, Michael A. (Anna R.) Lawson, Marlan A. "Andy" Lawson and Margo E. (Billy) Cox; grandchildren, Amanda Reynolds, Abe (Stephanie) Lawson, Josey Lawson, Caleb (Megan) Lawson, Maranda Lawson, Rachael (Jeff) Lawson, Alysha Lawson, Delaney Pressler, and Claire Cox; great-grandchildren, Leanna, Mikayla "Mikee", Garrett, Cash E., Clayton, Reid, Malverina, Carmella, Jullian, Jet, Zeplyn and Van Zant; her brother, Anthony Rizzo; a host of nieces and nephews and countless friends and loved ones.  Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Eugene T. Lawson; her siblings, Bettina, Ralph, Rose, Bob, and Malverino; and her sister-in-law, Nancy Rizzo.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 400 Nilles Rd., Fairfield, Ohio, on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Fr. Larry celebrant.  Visitation will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at  Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Memorial contributions can be made to Animal Friends Humane Society or Hospice of Cincinnati.
